Looking for a non-lethal method of protecting yourself? Check out Piexon’s latest high-tech self-defence device, the Guardian Angel II. Unlike conventional pepper spray delivery systems, this disposable unit doesn’t rely on a pressurised container, so its performance isn’t affected by temperature fluctuations, leakage or age. Instead, it uses a gas generator to deliver its liquid OC (oleoresin capsicum) irritant agent. The pepper jet travels at a speed of 180 km/h, thereby avoiding blowback or drifting.

Because the mechanism is sealed, says the manufacturer, it’s suitable for all environmental conditions. The Guardian Angel II holds two defence charges, switching automatically from the first to the second charge. Compact, flat and light, it’s easy to conceal and carry. One hit to the face (the maximum range is 4 m) will reportedly disable an attacker for up to 45 minutes, giving you plenty of time to escape.
